More thinking from the contributors to ‘HRMS World’ on effective ways to better use your HRMS.

The original plan when curating this post was as a follow-up to my last post about HRMS and performance measurement.  I was looking to highlight and focus your attention to the better use of your technology infrastructure, then I fully reviewed the article myself and had a change of direction.

Granted the goal of the original article is to focus the viewers attention to FREE white paper ‘HRMS Software Guide – 2015 Edition’  Which I have no problem with and hope the post achieves its goal conversions.  My problem is – as I read the advice on offer  – ‘Was I missing the bloody obvious’.  Is it a reality that people who interact and are regular users of HRMS tech, are they really this needy and require this basic level of help?

If so, the organisations’ these individuals belong to have a bigger problem than improving temporary staffing management effectiveness.  Just think of the possible failure points this short article could be offering you the reader – an insight into.  Especially if you relate to or have these staffing challenges and a shiny all ‘singing and dancing’ HRMS platform to play with.  One or more of these failings might be waiting for you in the list below:

  • The platform specification & purchasing process did not sufficiently incorporate the need for all contingency staffing requirements.
  • The HRMS Selection was driven by executive objectives and financial bias and not based on consultation or collaboration with ALL the primary user types.
  • The platform has too many unused features in the wrong areas and too few features in the critical/correct areas.
  • Post Implementation training was under valued and/or badly delivered and has no evaluation process in place to measure ongoing user improvements and organisational efficiency as a result of increased competency of its users.

It’s safe to say that if you recognise any of these points, its time to take a closer look and make sure they are not fracturing as you read this.  The only solace I can offer, that might ease your pain could come from my next sentence.

There are more organisations making major ‘enterprise wide’ technology infrastructure investments who are facing similar fracture points when choosing and running new technology; than there are those who have got all this stuff right.

Regrettably for the many; its the few – when analysed, are the same few diving the best revenue growth and sustainable profitability.  Check out the post below, maybe you will find it a useful read.
